Packers keep Nick Perry with five-year deal

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the Packers have signed the pass rusher to a five-year deal worth $60 million, per a source informed of the situation. Defensive tackle Mike Daniels ($10.25 million) is next after Perry. He recorded three sacks in two must-win games that earned the Packers an NFC North title and added a sack during the team's postseason run. He did suffer a broken hand against Houston on December 4, missed two games and was forced to play the remainder of the season with a club on his hand.

Perry had 11 of his 23.5 career sacks last season.

Perry's career has been plagued by injuries, but when healthy, he's an impactful defender who may still be able to improve.

Stay tuned, as we will update this post with the details of any additional signings that are reported for Green Bay.

"They wanted me to be a core guy", Perry said. The more players the teams has who can get to the QB, the less they have to rely on the safeties and cornerbacks to make plays. The team also signed former Cincinnati Bengals guard Kevin Zeitler to a long-term deal, and re-signed guard Joel Bitonio to a five-year, $51 miliion contract extension.

Notorious BIG's death still unsolved
Evans, who married the rapper in 1994, said she can only "live with the great memories of BIG that we have". He was only a year older than Notorious B.I.G., who was nicknamed Biggie Smalls.

Perry's meager contributions played a role in the decision to sign Julius Peppers, so Perry started four out of 15 games in 2014 and one out of 14 games in 2015.

"I think it really, really hit home when I got my first full offseason to really focus and prepare and really build that foundation", Perry said. His deal included an $18.5 million signing bonus and $20.8 million in 2017 salary.

But Matthews was beat up a year ago and there is nearly nothing behind him at outside linebacker, so the Packers were in a precarious position.

Safety was a key need entering free-agency signing period on Wednesday, and especially after Buffalo released veteran starter Aaron Williams earlier in the day.
