Washington announced the firing of GM Scot McCloughan on Thursday following his eyebrow-raising absence from the NFL Scouting Combine.
On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Mike Mayock of the NFL Network was a candidate for the Washington Redskins' general manager job.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Would Make iPhone 7 Look Dirt Cheap
This one comes from Korea Economic Daily that says the upcoming flagship smartphone from Samsung will feature facial recognition. The official launch, on the other hand, was earlier confirmed to be on March 29, with events happening in NY and London.
Mayock played three seasons in the National Football League as a safety. He joined the CFL's Toronto Argonauts in 1981 and then played with the New York Giants in 1982 and 1983. He's worked extensively in both college football and the NFL. He has broadcasted CFL, NFL and college football games, and now serves as one of the NFL Network's draft experts. Mayock interviewed for a job under Al Davis and the Raiders years ago but his profile has risen publicly in the last few years with his work on NFL Network. But if Mayock does become Washington's GM, he wouldn't be the first to make the jump from the broadcast booth to the front office.
So essentially, he is a combination of Kiper and former FOX Sports television analyst John Lynch, who is now the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers.
