Seven people, including four Russian nationals visiting Turkey, were killed when a helicopter crashed in an Istanbul suburb on Friday.

The helicopter broke into pieces left scattered along the E-5 motorway, which was closed as firefighters cleared the burning wreckage, the Independent reported.

The Sikorsky S-76 helicopter had taken off from Istanbul's main Ataturk airport with seven people on board.

Video from a gas station's security camera showed the helicopter plunging behind a hill, followed by a ball of fire rising to the sky that quickly turned into black smoke.
